IDEA: Screen Time Challenge

By March 27, 2020Digital Events/Activities

Here is something we did with our students after my trainer had me do it – you can fidn youth ministry inspiration ANYWHERE!

Here is what we sent our students:

We are on our phones a lot. And with the Coronavirus pandemic closing schools and businesses, we are probably on our phones more now than ever.

So, it’s time for a Screen Time Challenge! Get on your phone, go to ‘Settings’ and click on ‘Screen Time’, then choose ‘See All Activity’. Click back to the previous week and see what your total hours of screen time were: this is how many reps you will do (for each hour you were on your phone):

Choose one

  • Push-ups
  • Sit-ups
  • Jumping Jacks
  • Air Squats or Alternating Lunges
OR go for a walk (1 minute of walking per hour of screen time)

So, if you have 54 hours of screen time last week you have that many reps of an exercise. Or team up with a friend and split each others. BONUS: do that many reps of every exercise!Post a video of yourself completing the challenge and tag us (ministry account)!

How I used this in my context
I challenged my students to make sure they keep moving so they do not become lazy and glued to their phones more.
