We had one of our student leaders whose birthday happened during the quarantine, so we decided to throw her a virtual party using our Zoom account.
We surprised her by singing happy birthday, and did a BYOD(essert) event since we can’t do a real cake together. We then played two games centered on that student, a trivia game using Sidekick, and a “Newlywed Game”-style game.
It was a great way to bring together many different groups of people and show a student and their parents how loved they are.
How I used this in my context
We just offered it to the parents of the student as a courtesy. We had resources to give to help a student feel a sense of normalcy in an abnormal time, and they really appreciated the effort!
